How does an industry so obsessed with the voice leave its performers without one?
Flipping between live game-play, film, movement, electronics, and the rehearsal room, PLASTIC BODIES peels back the curtain on hidden abuse in the opera industry. Following rave reviews at their 2023 double bill (‘FIVE STARS’ – Opera Now; ‘Revelatory’ – TLS), PLASTIC BODIES returns to Tête-à-Tête with a full-length showdown you won’t want to miss.

A new community opera exploring the legend of accused witch Molly Leigh at B.ARTS in Stoke in July 2025
Through immersive music and storytelling, we will explore local history from the perspective of women and those excluded by society for being ‘different’ to find out, “Who is Molly Leigh?”
Composed and Written by Francesca Le Lohe and Gareth Mattey, the opera is creatively produced by B.ARTS and co-created with members of the local community.

Award-winning artist Melanie Wilson collaborates with an AI machine learning tool to explore the conflicted terrain of human and animal relationships through sound.
This poetic, intricate listening experience weaves together language, multi-part vocal composition, field recording and electronic sound to map the fragmentary experience of the biodiversity crisis with kaleidoscopic force.
Created using endangered animal voices from the UK and beyond, the score was developed through a five-year research process into machine learning for composition, supported by PRiSM, The Centre for Practice and Research in Science and Music, at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Oracle Song seeks to take the audience from a place of climate anxiety and grief into a shared landscape of listening and connection.
